THE END

With the world coming to an end, at least I can die happily after completing this course. Writing Rhetorically is a course where students learn how to communicate to a variety of audiences, and think complexly. This semester is coming to an end and if there were to be one thing that I can say I learned,  it is that writing does not only "matter in college", it matters in life. Writing Job applications, blogs, cover letters, reports, e- mail's,  or even lab reports are all writings we possibly do on a regular basis. In high school, writing assignments were conducted with little to no freedom. Natural writing voices were lost, writing projects had to be five paragraphs no matter what, and on top of that the prompts were not even broad. After the completion of this semesters english class, I have gained my own personality when writing and it has been presented within my blogs by gaining knowledge of different writing styles.
Short stories, argumentive essays, editorials, and just to name a few are all writing styles our class attacked this semester. Learning research paths,  how to write a thesis, and writing structure, all varied amongst different styles. Gaining this information put me two steps ahead in the presence of my colleagues, or those who did not take this course. Whether I was sending an applications with a cover letter, or a lab report for chemistry class, I knew how to attack each assignment. These are information I wish I knew all along. Getting insight from each assignment given to me this semester has allowed me to digest small things from each chapter that'll allow me to create this individual writing style that I speak of. For example, I remember in one chapter it spoke of incorporating sarcasm and humor in a  writing. I am a humurous guy so why not put my own voice onto the paper?
Surely, I am very pleased with the results shown in my writing from this class. High School does not even compare. Writing is how we communicate with others, wether it is through the cyber world or through a piece of paper, our writing needs to be able to stand out. To do that, we must establish our own personality in our writings. Professor Mcpherson once told our class, "You all have individual qualities about yourselves, and If you can just be yourself in your writings, it will be that much more beautiful." I will cherish those words forever.

A Blow To The Head

New National Football League's (NFL) rules aim to limit the number of head injuries amongst professional players. Applying more fines and penalties to head collisions on game day will increase a level of player safety. Issues arise as former NFL players file lawsuits on the league based due long term brain effects. It is said to be the biggest lawsuit in sport history, and targeting the National Football League can take away the way the game is played and viewed from pop warner to the professional league. According to ABCNews, “More than 2,000 former NFL players filed a lawsuit. These men are accusing the league of concealing head trauma information, linking football- related injuries to long-term brain damage." Some fans may disagree that these changes will take away the very nature of the game, the excitement, and the violence. The destructive potential effects can cause major issues to the brain, therefore, I believe that the safety of professional football players should be top priority.
Multiple bows to the head, documented, and or un-documented concussions are leading to horrific long term effects to football athletes in America. Long term affects from concussions can include loss of memory, behavioral issues, depression, headaches, and etc.  Many former professional players have even died, one in particular, former Patriots’ linebacker Junior Seau. He was found dead in his own home to what was apparent to be a suicide. ABC News reporters say that Seau’s death may be related to head trauma during his active days in the league.
Jim McMahon said in an interview about his fellow teammates and friends, “breaks your heart, a guy that you have known for years and years and he cannot recognize you, does not have any idea who you are or anyone else, that is just tough to deal with." The head trauma from these hits can and will cause a defect to the brain if the league does not take action. From personal experience, a collision to another player head on is equivalent to a car accident. It truly hurts and impairs one’s health. Most importantly, deriving from Jim McMahons’ statement, brain injuries affect the ones we love the most.
Former NFL players are dying and memories are vanished. These brain injuries are irreversible so, why not make the safety amongst the players be top priority? The numbers of concussions across the nation are brought to our awareness more and more. New helmets are being built, new penalties, and fines are enforced. Football is a sport but, none the least it is also an entertainment business and without fans there will be no revenue for the league. Controversy arises as the thought comes to mind to please both sides. How do you make the game safer, while keeping the reason why people watch the game, still alive? But, players are dying more and more, just two reported in the last two weeks so, when do we say it is enough?

Going Green

Do you feel as if things in the United States are just not the same as they once were? Well with the inflation of prices, it makes the American dream that much more difficult to achieve. Some prices that are set in the economy, just do not fit the average american hourly rate. The once adored lifestyles can no longer be fulfilled, and consolations are forced upon American families. The high average price increase of fuels and electricity in the United sates from 1990 to 2010 has caused Americans to become more stubborn about their spending habits for transportation.
According to the United States census from 1990 to 2010, unleaded regular gas has increased from $1.16  to $2.79 per gallon. That is an average increase of a $ 1.63 per gallon. That is almost a two dollar increase per gallon. Also, unleaded premium has increased from $ 1.35 to $3.05 on average per gallon. Which is a $1.70 per gallon average difference over the course of twenty years. Now it comes to mind, how will the Americans react to this increase in price?
The increase in fuel has caused Americans to turn to more economically feasible ideas. Ideas like riding a bike. According to the bike league, survey results show that the estimated number of bicycle's sold from the U.S. bicycle market from 1997 to 2007 has increased from a total of 15.2 million bikes sold to 18.5 million. A 3.3 million total difference over the course of ten years. American people are using less machines that utilize fuel, and instead Americans are being more reliable to their own manual labor. A bike costs less, and on top of that, it uses no gas.
Hybrid- electric cars do indeed run on regular gas, but not as much as conventional cars. These machines are much more fuel-efficient than regular cars. According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration, " the average mileage for a hybrid is at 38.7 miles per gallon(Roos, U.S Energy Administration)." Hybrid vehicles require far less  gas to cover the same distance as any conventional vehicle. The effect of the minimal gas used, causes for the less greenhouse gases emitted off into our atmosphere. In the U.S census the sales of hybrid- electric vehicles has increased noticeably. A sample from Americas two leading models, Toyota Prius and the Honda Civic shows a drastic difference from the year 1999 to 2011. From those two models, sales rose from absolutely nothing to almost 2.15 million.
Each day Americans are finding new ways to save the planet, at the same time it save us all a few change in our pockets. Each cent counts nowadays, and each day new ideas are being created in order to make Americans less stubborn about their spending's for transportation. Riding a bike to nearby destination or even buying a hybrid- electric vehicle are all routes we can pursue to not spend our money on valuable costs that shift with the economy. Thomas Huxley once said," Economy does not lie in sparing money, but in spending it wisely. "

Dream With In A Dream

One of 2010’s most brilliant movies, released on July 16, Inception made a huge bang in the box office. The movie won 75 awards out of 102 nominations, 4 Oscars, and earned a gross total income of 292.6 million. The writer, Christopher Nolan has written other movies as well such as The Dark Night, The Dark Knight Rises, and Batman Begins. Yet, still Inception stands out on its own as a more suspenseful and mind boggling movie. Unlike the other superhero movies, Inception attacks the human subliminal mind. Main character Dom Cobb (Leonardo DiCaprio), a skilled extractor that steals valuable information he needs by getting into a person’s mind. Dom Cobb’s goal was to eradicate information from a human mind during the dream state, where the human conscious is lowered, and as a result secrets could be extracted. A twist comes into the story when Saito (Ken Watanabe), offers Dom Cobb a Job. A job offer that asks for inception, instead of stealing a secret he asks Cobb to plant one. Out of jealousy Saito strives to destroy his competitor’s corporation of an energy conglomerate. The owner of the opposing company is Robert Fischer (Cillian Murphy). In return, he offers to give Cobb his life back. Inception is almost entirely impossible task to accomplish but, Cobb still tackles it. This movie was by far one of the best movies in my opinion, and it is a must see because it redefines the word "epic".
Special effects in this movie were surreal, edgy, and artistic. Objects were flying at me, almost as if the effects where in a third dimension, and yet I acquired no special lenses to sense that feeling. Like when fruits, tables, and windows exploded down a street sending everything everywhere, even through the screen. The effects revealed the unknowns in the human mind, the weird things that we may dream about have far more significance then we may think. That is interesting. A simple object like a train is to Dom Cobb. The editing of the movie I believe was fascinating, the movie cut down to the main points and editors tried to make it as understanding as possible. Both sound and picture bring this sort of suspense to the movie and an edgy drive that although you may know what is coming next, it still can make you feel anxious. Although it may bring you on this wonderful roller coaster ride, it can also be confusing. The sophistication of the movie can introduce a lot of information to digest. It is not one of those movies you watch once; you may need to watch it more than once to fully grasp the idea of the movie.
For those who seek action, adventure, and mystery all in one, this is the movie for you. For those who do not, you may be converted into seeking such thrills after watching Inception. Although the length of this movie is almost two hours and half it is certainly worth the money and the time. Epic movies like Lord Of The Rings or Pirate of the Caribbean cannot even stand on the same pedestal as Inception. The creation of the this movie is far to articulate to be a competitor. This movie deserves a 9 out of 10.

No One likes Quiet Hours

Today, on November 8th, on the West Side of campus of Bridgewater State University, students suffer under cold and rainy conditions and hard gusts of wind that torture them when they travel from class to class. The brutal weather causes for a mass of students to stay inside their dorms. Similar brutal conditions have been recorded on October 28 and the 29th. According to the Bridgewater State University home page, school has been cancelled due to harsh conditions. Hurricane Sandy was a hurricane that rose from the Caribbean up to the northeast portion of United States of America; a category 1 storm but, yet still it was recorded as one of the largest storms that the first thirteen colonies of America has ever seen.
Whether or not it is a nationwide emergency, a holiday, or a vacation, the Woodward Hall bulletin board states that quiet time hours end at 8pm on weekdays and 11 pm on the weekends, but some students seem to disagree. For example, Josh Bryant in room 11 says, "it is not fair that weekday quiet time hours still account even when school is cancelled, like on cancelled days quiet hours should extend to 11pm." To further alliterate, he tries to explain to us that, when classes are cancelled quiet hours should be slightly extended, possibly to the weekend hours.
The Woodward Residential Assistant says, having quiet hours is a form of discipline and it is fairly simple. Weekdays are at 8pm, and weekends are at 11pm. The Bridgewater State University catalog says, " quiet hours have been established to ensure that students can sleep and study during evening hours." Bridgewater makes an effort to explain that noise can quickly become an issue and fairness amongst close nieghbors or roommates should be equally distributed.
"Are people even doing there work on cancelled days," concluded Frander Baez. He pushes to explain that since classes are cancelled spontaneously, students should have already been prepared to go to class with all their work done in the first place. Should Bridgewater change there quiet hour regulations?

Did You Know This?

Remember those family dinners around six in the afternoon, where as a child all you could seem to hear was your parents ranting about how much you need to eat more vegetables, especially carrots. I have heard things in my past such as carrots would make me grow bigger and stronger, carrots would help my vision, or I would have to eat carrots if I wanted to grow up to be bugs bunny. As the gullible children that we once were, we believed every story they told us. Although some sayings may seem a little far-fetched, some do in fact hold many truths. Have you ever heard the saying; "if you eat too many carrots, you will turn orange. Well, it is in fact true. Eating excessive amounts of carrots can indeed make us orange.
According to Wisegeek,"Carotenosis is a medical condition caused by an excessive consumption of carotenoids. When someone develops carotenosis, his or her skin turns yellowish to orange (Smith)." Carotenoid can be found in vegetables such as papaw, pumpkin, and of course carrots. Carotenoid is what gives the vegetable color and as you can see between papaw, pumpkin, and carrots that they are all orange. Scientists have done a lot of research and placebo affected psychological experiments to prove this point. It turned out that the only thing that affected common results were a subject's speed of metabalism, age, and visibility amongst fair- skinned people. Still, un-controlled affects always seem to always show.
When eating excessive amounts of carrots, a reaction by the term of Hypercarotenemia happens. Hypercarotenemia is the same as carotenes is. It is an absolute harmless and spontaneous effect. The over bearing amounts of vitamin A can cause someone to nearly identical in shade as your vegetable. What gives a papaw, pumpkin, or carrot color will do the same for you. Although it can be a frightening thing to see but, it will happen.
Carrots do make your skin orange, if you indeed decide to eat too much of it. It is not just our parents bluffing but, realizes that this is in fact true. So make sure after you read this to send an apology letter to mom or dad for not believing them all these years. For those who are looking spontaneously orange, you do not need to rush to the hospital; you may just need to slow down on your consumption of carrots.

What We Think Hurts Will Only Benefit Us

Assignment: Write a Profile of a person or a group. Focus on some specific aspect that is noteworthy.

Numerous pieces of paper lay in between a homework agenda on the floor in front of the bedroom of one of the most studious men I know. After all the work I had to get done from an elementary charter school, I had even more work, this time it was from my father. " Leave your homework in front of my door so that when I come home from work at eleven-thirty, we can go over it," said Mr.Simplice. A stubborn man that came from nothing, he grew up on the farm, and the only way out of all the misery he was going through was education. He was tough, sometimes a little too tough.
"What strives you to be so studious?" I asked. " I wanted something better for my self, something different than my peers, and my family," replied Mr. Simplice. He did anything and everything to achieve his goal. Having his eyes droop down to his cheeks, waking up before the sun, and being drenched before entering each class all were second nature to this man. " You Americans have it easy, I use to stand in class to write my notes," Mr. Simplice added. Speaking to him, you can see the passion in his eyes, the pain of his past, and the sanctification of his present life.
Jefferson was an engineer from Port-au-Prince, Haiti who wasn't on a mission for the American Dream for himself, but rather to open more opportunities for an american dream for his children. Mr. Simplice was on a mission to make his children either equal or even better men than he was. Surely the idea of becoming like him almost sounded like a far reach for us. Mr. Simplice was feared, a serious guy that was always respected among his people. After the numerous amount of loss in sleep it was apparent that school came before anything else. He would come home late at night with no sign of tiredness, and ready to disrupt us all from our sleep. We as Kids use to moan and groan with restless faces when he asked to go over our homework with us.
I was done with my homework early one night, exhausted to the point that I slurring my words. I went to sleep early in peace, comfortably in my bed, and unexpectedly my father woke me up. Still in his engineer uniform, fingers covered in oil, and hair disoriented. We sat on the table across from each other. He skimmed through everything and specifically the math. Sadly that day I made numerous mistakes on my math homework. We went over each question, and once I understood it he created extra examples so I could further master it." The child has school in the morning let him go to sleep," said my Mother. He pushed me more, and more, and more to the point that I spent more time listening to his lectures than my own teacher's.
Ever since then, what seemed to be miserable moments were only benefiting us all. School was always primary. The number's on my test's were high."Why are you so hard on us?" I asked. "I am not being hard on you, the things I do will only benefit you for the future, and some day you will thank me," said Mr. Simplice. My father's struggles have made him who he is, and he strives to instill the same hunger he has in all of his children. As far as education goes, my father is a machine, and we his children were being manufactured. At the end of every term I handed him every report card I ever received and he is always pleased to sign it.

An Embarrassment That Led to Success

I was only a Junior in High School. A strong meaty young man but, yet still I had more developing to do in order to conquer the sport I truly loved. The love of my life was and still is, football. Unlike some of my classmates, I was still fifteen years old. You could never tell if you saw me. My birthday is on October, the 13th, so in the middle of the chilly season everyone would shockingly wish me a happy birthday with the same dumbfounded and disfigured facial expression. I was young but, I played like a big kid. Age was only a number to me. Everyone in my class were older than me but, I was always bigger in mass. I was one hell of a physical player, I mastered the arts of having no fear against any competitor  I never slowed down in contact, I was like a fright train. Although I was physical and fearless, I had one problem, and that was mastering the techniques and logistics of how to even play football. Some days I looked like a chicken with its head cutoff, running wild, and filling the wrong gaps on defense. My weakness was apparent to one man in particular, a man that I still despise but, yet I am grateful for his presence in my life.
There was this new coach that had arrived in the middle of the season. Throughout the whole year he took a step back as an observatory, almost like a coach on an intern or something. Like a creeper with the the brim of his hat sitting right above his eyebrows that always stood behind the current coaching staff of that time. So no one really knew him. His name was Coach Bonn. He was a chubby guy, but he always seemed to be angry at the world. You know one of those fun sized guys that thought they were bigger and badder than everyone else. He was five foot six. Sadly, he was promoted to be the defensive coordinator the upcoming year. I had a bad feeling about him, plus I definitely made the wrong impression based on my performance. Making mistakes were vivid to this particular coach, and those mistakes alone changed my life in certain ways that I could never imagine.
During the brutal winter on a hard working day in the weight room, I was drenched in my own sweat as my biceps were glistening in the light almost as if I was covered in baby oil. So in the conditions that I was in I decided to go pretend to get some water and flirt with the cheerleaders, where they always stood and chatted while taking a break. As I was sipping the ice cold water, guess who makes an appearance? Coach Bonn. He introduces himself and says, "You know this year your performance was a little soft". That word alone cause me to sweat in embarrassment around the cheerleaders that I was near, causing me to boil in anger as each and every vein in my body were pulsating. I was vexed.
Every day after that, I never took a break. Everyday was a grind. The weight room became my second home. I would start working out in the sunny day, and leave when it would be dark.I had more energy than the energizer bunny. The playbook became my bible, and inside all you can see are written notes and audibles coach would add into the playbook every week. I began to work countless hours in the gym, sneaking back in the weight room even after it was closed. Every week the thump of me dropping the dumbbells became louder and louder as the weight continued to increase. After, a normal day of training my muscles would pulsate uncontrollably wanting to escape the confined area trapped by my skin. I was always in pain but being sore was only a sign of improvement  The only reason I put in all of this effort was because I hated who I once was. I wanted greatness. I figured that I would earn the most respect from my coaches and teammates when no one was around to see.
Surely, I became bigger, faster, and stronger but, most importantly I became wiser. In one year I gained over fifteen pounds in muscle and knew every formation and audible inside and out. I started on varsity again my senior year. On each and every play, whether it was practice or not, not one person has ever gave more effort than I have in anything play by play. I sprinted every play, grunted every tackle, screamed every tackle for a loss of yardage. I was on a mission, and that mission was to convert ever non- believer. You can see the focus in my eye's. Coach Bonn's motivational words taught me a lot, it taught me that there was a way out of making repetitive mistakes, it was hard work.

I Am The Man

What personal characteristics do you possess that would make you a good Health-Care provider? Give some examples from your experiences that show your characteristics in practice?

Giving, Giving is what I enjoy doing and not because I have to but, cause I want to. Serving others make me feel better about myself.  I believe that  making a difference is worth more and lasts much longer than a check. I am the person to provide health care for your company because to me it isn't a job, it’s an enjoyable lifestyle. The values I attain are distinct from everyone else, you will never find any other applicant like myself.
Starting at the age of ten years old till this day I gave my time at a local nursing home/ health care center that my mother use to work for. My presence alone made all the elderly patients feel special. Just to know that someone cares can soothe any one's heart into peace. At the Nursing home I was an active member of the activities center where I would communicate with the patients, play games with them, and even create games.  While other young children had extra hours of sleep, I was up at six in the morning to volunteer. By the end of my senior year of High School I accomplished to finish over three hundred hours of community service.
Living on the edge and thinking on my toes is what I do on day to day bases. Creative thoughts flow through my mind constantly and I can bring views to the table that no one would even think about. For example, In High School I was the President and founder of two clubs. These two clubs aimed to attribute peace and unity within the school, fixing daily issues of personal differences by bringing people together.
I am also kind, patient, and understanding of every individual trait that diverse people may bring to the table. This enables me to communicate pretty thoroughly with various cultures and personalities. When communicating to a customer, I can almost make them feel at home, and surely they will all have faith in the things I do or say. Some people speak, and immediately you can tell that they are just doing it for the job. My personal voice is capable to establish a certain level of comfort ability between a customer and myself. That's what set's me apart.
Surely I am no ordinary applicant; my experience brings me the confidence to know how to handle our patients, and the ability to start right now. Give me a scenario, and I will tell you how I would go about it. The extra effort that I put in and the qualities I have will surely make me stand out as an applicant. Bottom line is if you want to succeed, choose me.

Deep Into The Diary of Anne Frank

As real as a book can get, The Diary of Anne Frank was found in the attic of the Frank family where sadly she spent her last moments alive. Anne Frank is a young Jewish girl, and during the 1940’s Germany invaded The Netherlands, France, and Belgium with a mission to make the Jewish culture extinct. The Germans blamed the Jews for the loss of World War I. Cause of this Anne suffers mentally and physically solely upon her belief of Judaism. Her story will send a message to the whole world, teaching the qualities of peace and unity, and how the power of one’s belief can abrupt a whole nation. She is sharing to us what she overcame, and the human courage that she withheld. I would consider the genre of the story to be an autobiography or even non-fiction. She writes each and every word but I realized that the editor of the story makes an extreme effort to fulfill a missing era in The Diary, which causes a slight confusion of what happens to Anne during World War II.
Since, we are only speaking about the book, it is appropriate to label the genre as an autobiography because Anne is speaking about her own life day by day. This story speaks in a first person point of view. What is felt, heard, and seen is all described through Anne Frank’s eyes. This fact alone attaches a reader in a way to make he or she almost believe that they are going through the same emotions that in this case Anne frank was going through. That's almost how I felt as well but, the skip in time almost made me feel transported into the future.
I was very intrigued by the story. The authentic facts viewed through the eyes of a victim were very engaging. I did notice the missing period and the efforts from the editor to fill that era. Her First Diary ends in December of 1942, then it goes onto her second diary, which starts the next year in December 1943 and continues onto April 1944, therefore; we must assume that there is a lost section between December 1942 and December 1943. What happened to it, in fact what happened to her? All we know is her tough triumph and tribulations end on March 12, 1945. Where death may bring her more peace than her being alive.

Considering My Audience

Our whole lives, we've been writing papers, after papers, and more papers. For once, have you ever taken the pleasures of your audience into consideration? Unfortunately, oppose to taking you, the reader into consideration, instead we focus on what our professor may be pleased with. Frustration is felt when I worry about what my professor is going to think, which forces myself to alter my own personal edge in my writing. Writing to the public audience has helped me establish a voice, simply just how I would speak to a human physically, I learned how to just put it down into a word document. Without the slang or possibly any profanity my new goal in college is to really apply my voice and personality onto any of my papers so that my audience will always be able to relate well.
It’s funny because remark how humans, including myself tend to sharpen up around certain people, and how someone will act nearly fake because of a certain environment. Well, I think the same goes for the way we write. We look for syllables to enrich our vocabulary, our sentence structure changes, and in total we simply sound artificial. It even comes off a little uptight. Almost how guys are when they meet their lover’s parents, especially the father’s. I am totally guilty of just not being me in the past when writing my papers. I am sure all of us can relate. Here’s a clue that I've learned, Write how you would as if you were writing a status on Facebook, Twitter, Formspring, or any other communication site.
Another, tool I use to communicate with my audience is to take caution of who my audience may be. Learning how to limit my beliefs, judgment, or philosophy were very hard. Taking into consideration that there are no identical human beings in the world has helped me to attack my essays in a non-bias manner. Being careful opens a much larger variety of audiences and basically it doesn't run people away. I like that only because it opens up a certain level of comfortability between the reader and I although we're complete strangers to one another.
All in all, Simply just me being myself, I can provide a distinct swagger that can attract a large variety of the public audience purpose. Writing an essay for a professor, writing a lab, or just writing on a social website all serve the same purpose. That purpose is to inform a particular audience upon a particular subject. I try to remember that my professor is not my audience, otherwise Ill just end up stressing over unnecessary things. Doing so, I think that I've finally found my voice. You can too, just open your heart onto the paper. Not literally.

Me becoming Shakespeare, NOT!

My writing process may just be a little unorthodox. Sitting on a chair in a solemn room with no noise entering but the sound of nature. A cloud of thoughts wander above my head, it starts off with a little snack just so that my stomach does not override the sound of nature as I am deeply in thought. Then depending on the prompt I will proceed to do some research. Its sort of a smart thing to do because there are just so many things that can be unclear in a prompt. After my research is done, I'll think of a thesis that embodies what I plan on speaking about throughout the whole essay and boy, one of the hardest things for me to do is to obtain the same thesis throughout the whole essay. As soon as I come up with a thesis, I'll come up with a main topic  for each body paragraph. From there on out it's history. Those steps are my current writing process, over the years it has altered in ways that have only helped me. I try not to make much mistake, but its almost unavoidable, therefore; I try my best to progress not decline. My process  of me becoming a writer can be somewhat  abstract and it has differed greatly from what was then and what is now.
I've always had a few problems that I just cant seem to shake off. I know I am not the only one who does this here but, for some reason I always get distracted by something whether its Facebook, YouTube, or just my phone. In fact, before I wrote that previous sentence, I was on YouTube looking at funny clip's. People may think I have an Attention Defecit Disorder or something. Another issue I've had over the years are my organization skills. Taking the time to make an outline and highlight my main topic for every paragraph including my thesis was ver very hard. Making outlines simply help me prevent many other problems such as, staying on topic with my thesis. A lot of people like myself have these issue's.
In High school we were taught the usual MLA format. Five paragraphs containing an introduction, three body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Growing up in my younger days, focusing on each assignment with that specific structure took a toll on me. I was almost never interested in the MLA style of writing but, I hit an experimentation stage during Junior High. I started to write poetry. I don't know about you but, poetry to me is free, it embodies no specific structure or grammar, and thats why I like it so much. When writing poetry I really focus less on my mistakes. I feel as if student's make more mistakes on prompt essay's when we worry about our mistakes. When students focus on their mistakes our sentence fluency becomes so disfigured. Do you ever notice that? The upbringing from writing poetry to writing an actual essay can seem like it may not help with the structural base that it needs but, it actually does. It's helped me web my ideas to different branches and still be able to connect back to the main idea. Thos who write poetry know what I mean.
All in all, college is a huge pain because my whole life I was taught a certain way, and all of a sudden its expected that in one day that I shall alter and expand my writing style.  What was then and what is now with my writing vary drastically. My problems and habits continue to get better. But, most importantly as the demands become higher, so as my efficiency. My fustrations, experimentations, and will accomplishments have given me the drive to be where I am. In a college writing course, doing what I love. learning. My experimentation has allowed me to progress from what was then and what is now. Goodbye old me, hello future.

Lady Haha

Deriving from the title, "Lavish worlds, and the headwear to match," the author,  Jon  Pareles explains that Lady Gaga's freakish costumes tend to fascinate our current elaborate world. It's proven in each photograph taken of Lady Gaga that she is a far cry from any other entertainer. This passage of a non- fiction music review that I will speak of throughout this blog is on one of America's most watched artists, Lady Gaga. It speaks about her in general and her performance on wednesday night at the "Radio City Music Hall". This one performance explicates the individuality of Lady Gaga.  So whether or not you love Lady Gaga as an artist I will explain how Jon Poral, the author of this passage got me to read the passage of Lady Gaga.
An interesting thing that the author does is brings a certain voice that intrigues readers. His voice is positive, happy, it's enthusiastic, informative, but at the same time has a non- bias approach to it. Her voice like her style are both dissonant. It is explained that Lady Gaga brings a certain flare or style to the music business that no other artist has ever done. Im not just giving my own opinion here, this review includes Known facts about Lady Gaga. At least the positive facts only.
Information that kind of cue me to knowing that this review is based on a performence. The connection that the paragraphs have seem almost as if the author is telling a story based on the same performance. The author starts speaking of lady gaga's opening act, the staging layers, and then finally near the end it says, " she ascended in an orb of rotating silver rings, like a disco angel (p.19)". Wow, now that's over the top.
The author spoke of the performance in a manner that set Lady gaga apart. By giving examples of her lavish outfits from her concerts, how her staging layers were differrent from any other, and complimenting her naturally strong voice are all ways that raised her status. An average reader may be anyone who loves music, specifically pop- music, to anyone looking to be informative about our celeberities lives. Who is this Lady Gaga person? Or what is she up to now? are different questions that different readers may ask. By speaking in a non- bias manner, the writer is able to take into consederation that not all people like or dislikes Lady Gaga. But, If someone is reading an article about Lady Gaga, Thay are either uninformed or just truly adore Lady Gaga.
In a review, first thing that clues a reader into the subject of an article, is the photo. The photo persuaded me to just give it a shot and at least read the first paragraph. I actually ended up reading the whole thing.  A photo is big in the sense that it can really speak to your mind. The photo is what will make a reader to stop flipping the page. The photo presented in the review explains everything that the writer was saying about Lady Gaga and more. The photo explains  her bizzare choice of outfits, in the photo she wears an outfit made of of raw meat.
The writer pays extra attention to the consideration of the audience that may give their undivided attention to read this music review. Jon Porales does a good job of making choices that reflect an understanding of who the readers are and why they are reading it. You may not need need any special knowledge, vocabulary, or background to understand this review. I read it, do you think that you can?

My rare being unfolded

I am Jeffrey Simplice, a college freshman writing his first blog ever. I am currently taking a Writing Rhetorically course at Bridgewater State University in order to enrich my writing. The true purpose of this class is to expand the style of my writing, so that I can be able to please various audiences with my writing. But, for this first blog getting to know me may just be the most appropriate thing to do.
My name is Jeffrey but, you can just call me Jeff. It can be a little confusing to me though and I will tell you why. I have two brothers and two sisters. For those who are calculating in their heads, that's five children. The worst part of this whole situation is that I am the youngest. Well, that's what my dad says. Here comes the funny part where everyone seems to laugh, my older brother's names are Jeff and Jefferson. The consistent question I always get is, do you guys ever get confused in the house? The answer is, no. Who knows what my father was thinking. The only thing that separates me and my brothers are the fact that we have different mothers. We were all born to separate mothers and late in our lives we were introduced to each other. My father's effort to unite the family was a success and it paid off.
We all met where I was born in Hyde Park, Massachusetts, which is a neighborhood that lies in the southernmost region of Boston. It is mostly famous for its affordable abodes and the everlasting activities that it has to offer. At the age of ten, I moved out of Hyde Park to a town right outside the border of Boston named, Dedham. It was a big change, everything turned around from there on out. I was entering middle school a little over-weight and was in desperate need of finding a sport where I could actually fit in. I always loved basketball but, that was too much running for me. I loved to dance as well, but felt as if I was being judged because of it. But, you know what sport did suit me, football.
The best days of my life were spent of the football field, playing pop warner football and varsity high school football. I recieved several hilarious nicknames such as Slim Fast, Simply-Nice, and my most current one, Big Daddy Simp. Please do not call me by these nicknames in public, it gets embarrassing sometimes. Although I admire the game of football, it wasn't the only activity I did that helped me be the man I am today. Like football, poetry was a way to channel my feelings in a positive manner.
I've had many great times in my young age but, every happy moment come with hard work. This is my story, the story of Jeffrey Simplice. The most humble, honest, and handsome man that you will ever meet. The only guy you will ever know who has his own personal three H's.
